Location: Dcheira – Province of Inezgane Aït Melloul
A Brief Outline of the Festival:
Rwaïs is an Amazigh art form performed by both men and women through singing and dancing. The performance begins with the playing of the Sussi rabab instrument, followed by other musical instruments. The raïss (bandleader) then starts singing, with the women successively joining in after the raïss.
This festival seeks to preserve and promote this authentic traditional heritage by strengthening its position in Morocco’s cultural scene. It also encourages academic research into the region’s intangible heritage, celebrates its pioneers and elder artists, and draws the attention of younger generations to this living tradition.
