Moulay Abdellah Amghar Moussem

The Moulay Abdellah Amghar Moussem is an event held in the Commune of Moulay Abdellah, near the prefecture of El Jadida on the Atlantic coast. It is associated with Moulay Abdellah Amghar, one of the renowned Sufi mystics of the Doukala region. The Moussem attracts thousands of visitors from nearby tribes and across Morocco, who participate in religious events such as eulogies, Quran recitations, and sermons. Additionally, they benefit from the commercial opportunities and enjoy the folk artistic events organised during the Moussem period. This Moussem features the participation of over 150 equestrian teams, who successively present their shows to visitors. It also includes halqa artists, who gather crowds in their dedicated spaces, and biaza (falconers) from the Qawasem tribe, who demonstrate their skills in controlling falcons. The Moulay Abdellah Moussem has played a pivotal role in strengthening the bonds among the people of the Doukala tribe for many generations. It continues to be a significant event that preserves numerous traditions associated with moussems in Morocco, including spiritual practices, artistic performances, culinary arts, and inherited trade customs.
