Taskiwin

Location: Taroudant A Brief Outline of the Festival One of the main objectives of the festival is to introduce the traditional art of Taskiwin, a cultural heritage of Taroudant, and to celebrate its harmony with other Moroccan rhythms. Through dancing, the festival invites audiences to embark on a captivating artistic and cultural voyage. Taskiwin is a martial dance specific to the High Atlas mountain range in the centre of Morocco; however, it is about to disappear since younger generations increasingly favour mode artistic practices. Taskiwin dances involve intricate rhythms and the harmonic shaking of shoulders in tune with traditional instruments. The competent ministry decided to initiate this festival after UNESCO inscribed the Taskiwin dance as an intangible heritage facing extinction.
